Nestled in the heart of Burgundy, the Auxois region offers countless activities for lovers of nature, historic sites, culture, and gastronomy.

  1. Saulieu - 24 km: A temple of gastronomy at the gates of the Morvan, with its lakes and forests.
  2. Semur-en-Auxois - 35 km: And its surroundings: the Abbey of Fontenay (UNESCO), Château de Bussy-Rabutin, the Alesia site and its museum park, and the village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain.
  3. Beaune - 47 km / 35 min: Capital of Burgundy wines, with its famous Hospices (UNESCO), and the Cité des Climats.
  4. Dijon - 50 km / 35 min: The city of the Dukes of Burgundy, with its stunning historic center and renowned museums.

The Burgundy Wine Route: Drive along this famous route to visit the prestigious vineyards of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, taste world-renowned wines, and discover the UNESCO-listed "Climats."

Château de Châteauneuf-en-Auxois (17 km): Explore this magnificent medieval castle perched on a hill, offering breathtaking views of the Burgundy countryside.

Château de Commarin (17 km): One of the rare castles in France never to have been sold or pillaged during the French Revolution.

Abbaye de Fontenay (50 km): Visit this 12th-century Cistercian abbey, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for its well-preserved architecture and peaceful gardens.

The village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain (40 km): Stroll through one of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France," famous for its aniseed candies and medieval streets.

It is best to bring your own bicycle; however, rentals are available through the Pouilly-en-Auxois Tourist Office (03 80 90 77 36).

We recommend booking well in advance.

  • Taste soft cakes and madeleines crafted for over half a century at the MISTRAL Biscuit Factory in Semur-en-Auxois.

  • Buy goat cheese while attending the milking at La Ferme de Blancey: direct sales every Tuesday from 6 to 7 pm, and by appointment (06 89 09 38 55).

  • Try the local foie gras, rivaling the best of southwest France… (Pascal Laprée, hamlet Mairey Mont St Jean - 03 80 84 31 12).

Swimming during your stay:

Pouilly-en-Auxois is surrounded by large and beautiful reservoirs (Cercey, Panthier, Grosbois) that feed the Burgundy Canal.

Swimming is permitted in some, and the Panthier Reservoir also offers water sports.

Lake Settons (50 km) is a pleasant spot to spend the day walking and cooling off in the heart of the Morvan (swimming allowed).
